This time it's Levi's RED 1st Standard.

Up to what age is considered vintage?
Looking at it from that perspective, I had no choice but to conclude that this item was not vintage by my standards, so I really struggled with whether it was okay to dismantle it.

Still, it's an item with a very distinctive shape, so it's sure to be interesting.
Although it cannot be called a vintage item, it is by no means a current product either. So I decided to satisfy my desire.

The results were as expected. As always, it was a fun time, but at the same time, the products from the 2000s were still very much like modern production, and I felt that there was little to enjoy them based on the considerations and discretion that are unique to vintage items.
This may be the first and last item outside of the vintage category.

levi's RED 1st Standard side ear

levi's RED 1st Standard side ear
The distinctive green ears are very striking.
The unique silhouette gives the impression that there are no selvedge, but selvedge is used in usable parts. The stitching is not as thick as the vintage ones, but it does look like a thick thread is used.
"Three-dimensional silhouette with ear-like effects"
Hearing that makes it seem like there wouldn't be any space needed, but in reality it feels like it has been carefully designed to fit together nicely.
The width of the serger stitching doesn't look vintage, but it's not something I'm particularly looking for so it's not a problem at all.
It feels like a product that has been carefully thought out and crafted in many ways, so it makes me happy when I discover details that I feel show a respect for vintage items.

Levi's RED 1st Standard Darts

There are darts in the area where the yoke is usually located, but the 501 does not have darts at the yoke transition, so the shape and structure are different from the 501.
When you look at the whole picture, you can see that this dart is properly unfolded and made.
Isn't that normal? Some people may think so, but with vintage items, there are rare cases where the darts are not part of the pattern and are simply pinched in place.

Levi's RED 1st Standard Hem Roll Stitch

Levi's RED 1st Standard Hem Roll Stitch
The width of the center back rolled seam is narrow.
Was this simply due to a problem with the factory equipment, or was it by design?
I look at it with a strange feeling, wondering why it has to be this way.

Levi's RED 1st Standard Belt Loop Stitching

Levi's RED 1st Standard Belt Loop Stitching
The belt is sewn with a top and bottom chain stitch all the way to the end.
That's not something special at all for a car of this age.
What bothers me is the thickness of the chain stitch.
The chain stitching on the belt seems thicker than the other stitches.

levi's RED 1st Standard patch pocket

The pocket is attached at the end of the flap as well.
Rather than attaching the flap and pocket separately, the stitching around the edge of the flap and the stitching that secures the pocket were sewn in one go.

levi's RED 1st Standard rivet

levi's RED 1st Standard rivet
The rivets are not cap type but punch type with holes.
Moreover, upon closer inspection, the engraving is on one side. When I saw this, I was convinced. The person who made RED must love vintage items.
Rivets are more efficient when engraved on both sides than on one side because there is no need to check the front and back. Despite this, the fact that they are engraved on only one side seems to be a consideration for the vintage look. That being said, isn't it possible that they were produced in smaller quantities than expected and so they were forced to engrave on one side?

levi's RED 1st Standard button

The buttons and rivets are a nice homage to the vintage feel.
There are two types of button legs: one with a single needle and one with two needles.
All the styles mentioned above use twin-needle buttoning on the legs. In other words, it is possible to recognize that vintage Levi's jeans use twin-needle buttons. In fact, I think that people who like vintage jeans are more likely to like twin-needle buttons.
In addition, the material was iron.

Levi's RED 1st Standard Bag End

There was a bar in the edge of the bag fabric, on the seam allowance.
Actually, I see this specification every now and then, but I wonder if it is really necessary.
Take a look at your jeans.
And if anyone would like to hear more about it,
